Prices for miniature Highland cattle in Australia vary widely, and for good reason. Rather than a single figure, think in tiers driven by a few clear factors.
Sex: heifers cost more than steers because they carry breeding potential. Size: the smaller and more consistent the line, the higher the price — micro heifers sit at the top. Colour: silver, white and brindle command a premium over classic black and red. Chondro & registration: tested, documented, registered animals cost more because you're buying certainty.
A cheap "mini" is often a standard calf sold young, or an animal with undisclosed issues. Ask for chondro results, health records and papers, and verify the seller's PIC. The right animal from the right breeder is rarely the cheapest — and almost always the better value.
